Michael Smith

Michael is an Associate Director in the Forensic Accounting Services team at BDO Auckland. He has over 15 years of accountancy experience and has specialised in forensic accounting since 2011.

He has worked on a wide variety of cases across a range of sectors and industries, including contractual disputes, loss of profit claims (including business interruption claims), international arbitrations, financial investigations and fraud / bribery & corruption investigations.

Michael also has extensive experience in post-deal M&A disputes, including warranty and indemnity claims (both insured and uninsured), expert determinations, completion accounts disputes and earn-out disputes. 

Michael regularly works on engagements involving the valuation of companies, in the context of both commercial and post-acquisition disputes.
