Melissa started with BDO Taranaki in 2010 when she joined as a student intern while completing her studies at Victoria University, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science. Following this, Melissa transitioned to full-time employment in 2014 and then qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016. On 1 January 2023, Melissa was appointed an Associate at BDO Taranaki.
Melissa’s passion lies in leveraging technology to empower both Agri and Commercial businesses. She specialises in conducting systems reviews and implementing enhanced systems to drive efficiency and success. Her expertise ensures that software solutions align with business needs and simplify compliance requirements.
Melissa also specialises in Māori business and Not-for-Profits. She works with various local organisations, ensuring their compliance reporting and assisting with regular budgeting. Her contributions allow boards to make timely decisions, enabling them to continue serving their communities.
When she’s not at BDO, Melissa actively participates in musicals, performing in various shows for both the New Plymouth Operatic Society and 4th Wall Theatre.
