BDO announces new governance role and Partner appointments

New BDO governance role and Partner appointments reflect network growth and focus on supporting economic recovery

In line with growing demand for BDO New Zealand’s expert accounting, assurance, tax and advisory services, recent expansion of its national network, and a continued focus on supporting business leaders to drive economic recovery, BDO New Zealand Chair Doug Haines has announced the appointment of ten new BDO Partners nationally and an independent director to its national board.

“Challenging economic conditions, coupled with a strong drive from business leaders to achieve their goals, has seen us witness growing demand for expert advisory, tax and audit services across our network – particularly within the mid-market sector. We’re excited to be able to respond to this demand by confirming the appointment of ten new BDO Partners who each bring extensive and uniquely valuable experience in their specialist fields. Importantly, this further strengthens our depth of experience and capability to help business leaders achieve sustainable growth and fuel New Zealand’s economic recovery.” - Doug Haines – Chair, BDO New Zealand.

BDO’s new Partners include:

These appointments come off the back of further expansion across BDO New Zealand’s network in recent years, now including 20 offices nationally – from Kerikeri to Invercargill. Haines adds:

“Sustainable growth for BDO’s network and our clients is founded on strong governance. With this in mind, I’m pleased to also confirm the appointment of Tracey Cross as an independent director on the BDO New Zealand Board, further supporting a culture of quality and integrity. Tracey brings extensive governance experience - her expertise and fresh perspectives will play an invaluable role in our boardroom discussions and decision-making.”

Tracey also currently serves on the Boards of AIA NZ, Mint Asset Management and Tony Mounce Mortgages. A former partner at global law firm DLA Piper, Tracey now runs her own legal practice while also advising and coaching Boards, businesses and their teams on good governance as the foundation of sustainable business.

In a further key leadership appointment, 2025 also sees Wellington-based BDO Partner Justin Martin step into the role as National Advisory Leader, heading BDO’s largest service line - which he first joined in 2009.
