Read Horouta's story about becoming an Auditor at BDO Wellington.
What and where did you study?
I studied my Bachelor of Commerce Majoring in Accounting at Victoria University, Wellington. I chose to study here as I thought it would have more opportunities than my home town Blenheim. This ended up being the case as I received a BDO internship during my second year in Wellington, which has enabled me to go to Intermediate mid-way through this year. What made you choose BDO?
I applied for the BDO Sir Henare Ngata Scholarship where, through the interview process, I found how involved BDO are in Māori Business. Ultimately my career goal is to be immersed in Māori business so hearing this hooked me.To add to this, the people I met through the interview process seemed genuine and overall people I’d love to work with.
What has been your favourite part about working at BDO so far?
The socialness and travel. I’m a very social person and BDO has enabled me to meet new people that I love to work alongside, as well as travel and meet new people in many parts of NZ.“BDO has enabled me to meet new people that I love to work alongside.”
