Amendments to Code of Ethics
The External Reporting Board (XRB) has recently issued Amendments to Professional and Ethical Standard 1: Technology-related Revisions to ensure the Code of Ethics effectively addresses the increasing use of technology.
Key changes include:
- Identifying threats associated with the use of technology
- Factors to consider when using technology such as intended purpose
and controls - Expanding independence requirements to areas like licensing technology or hosting data
- Clarification on protecting the confidentiality of information or data
The amendments align with international revisions and are effective for periods beginning on or after 15 December 2024.
